Global Human Rights Defenders Call for Immediate Action: American Human Rights Defenders Join Hands with Global Campaigners
MIRPUR (AJK) (Parliament Times) : An international petition demanding justice for Yasin Malik, a prominent Kashmiri pro-freedom leader and advocate of nonviolent resistance, currently languishing in Indian notorious Tihar jail, has been officially launched on Change.org, says a press release
“The petition is authored and sponsored by Dr. Rick Halperin, a globally recognized human rights champion and professor at Southern Methodist University (SMU), along with Bill Maxwell and the Dallas Peace and Justice Center (DPJC)”, the PR reaching and released to the media here Thursday said.
“This initiative marks a significant milestone in the global campaign for human rights, dignity, and justice in Kashmir”, the PR said
Campaign coordinator Raja Muzaffar, while announcing the launch of the petition, urged supporters, human rights defenders, and peace activists worldwide to sign and promote the petition:
“This is not just about Yasin Malik — it is about the universal principles of justice, dignity, and human rights. Every signature is a voice. Every share is a step closer to exposing injustices on an international platform. I appeal to everyone who believes in freedom and human rights to sign this petition today and spread it as widely as possible.”
Muzaffar also expressed his deep gratitude to Dr. Rick Halperin for authoring and sponsoring the petition, and to Bill Maxwell and the Dallas Peace and Justice Center for supporting this global effort:

Why This Petition Matters
Yasin Malik, a well-known Kashmiri political leader and peaceful resistance activist, has been imprisoned under draconian laws and faces the threat of the death penalty. The petition calls upon international human rights bodies, governments, and civil society to intervene and demand justice, due process, and protection of his basic rights.
The petition is expected to create significant global awareness as it is supported by three U.S.-based human rights organizations and several peace activists across continents.
The campaign appeals to supporters of justice and human rights worldwide, the PR said.
